The Health Junction is a nutritional consulting services organization whose focus is helping the community learn how to adopt a whole foods, healthful, and nutrient dense diet that is simple and sustainable. At the crux of The Health Junction is the belief that regardless of our colour, creed, nationality, age, income level, or sex, optimal nutrition is within our reach. Sometimes we just need the tools, and that’s where I come into the picture.
I’m Heather Davies, a Toronto-based Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) with a special interest in digestive issues & disorders, women’s health, blood sugar management, allergies/food sensitivities, and hormonal imbalances. I believe most of us know what we need to do for improved health, but the “how” is a little more difficult – let me teach you how to make improvements to both nutrition and lifestyle.
My interest in nutrition started at George Brown College where I completed a certificate in Health & Nutrition as a night student. I was so inspired by the health changes I experienced that I quit my job in corporate marketing and decided to go back to school full-time. Learning how to identify and treat the root cause of varying illnesses through addressing dietary and lifestyle contributors has been the main objective The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where I have obtained a Diploma in Natural Nutrition.
Some of my most influential learnings have come from my job as a Nutritionist with the Toronto District School Board’s Beyond 3:30 Program as well as my work as a Clinical Research Assistant at Glycemic Index Laboratories where I help run studies on Glycemic Index determination and satiety assessments. These positions provide an excellent opportunity to continuously learn more about both the hands on and clinical side of nutritional science each and every day.
Aside from my passion for the study of nutrition in its various forms, I’m an aspiring hockey player, former ESL English Teacher, and avid cyclist and swimmer. Some of my favourite things are cats, my bicycle, milled flax seeds, sunny porches, and green smoothies.
I look forward to helping you work towards health and wellness!
